Story of how Emma Rose made it into this world. Born Sunday September 27, 2009 @ 6:21pm. 9lbs 2oz & 20.75 inches.
So Saturday night I was getting my regular BH, then they started changing and I was getting pain in the bottom of my abdomen. That was around 10:30 or 11pm. I decided to go to bed because that usually makes them go away. But I couldn't sleep, they were getting stronger. At about 2am they were getting pretty close together, and we were at the hospital at 4am. They hooked me up and I was in a room by just before 6am. Would've been sooner but they were very busy, 5 or 6 babies total that day, all in the am, I was the only that held on all day lol. I was 3cm when I went in, or at least at 5:30 when they checked me. I got the epi at 9:30am, so about 10.5 hours into it. I was hurting by then lol. They checked me a bit after that and I was over 6cm. The epi slowed down my progress a bit but I was 9cm by 4pm. The nurse got me set up and I was pushing at 4:45pm. The doctor came in and told me all the other babies born that day were 5.5 - 6.5 pounds, but I wouldn't get one of those, he wasn't kidding! lol. I was moving her down pretty good, but they did have to use the vacuum. It came off once for sure but I think it was twice. I know he said that if it came off again they would try the forceps once but then I was going for a c-section. But that didn't happen and I got her out. He had to cut me pretty good too, I didn't even ask how many stitches. They had to put me laying down a bit to get everything to work so I didn't want to really hold her till I could sit up, plus I couldn't catch my breath from pushing for so long. But she was born at 6:21 and I was holding her at 7:30, took him that long to sew me back together :|
Oh, and I was having steady contractions, 2-3mins apart for quite a while and as soon as we wanted to start pushing, they just stopped coming, lucky if there was one every 5 mins. So I had to be hooked up to oxytocin to get them going again.
Needless to say, mama still hurts lol. I've been on T3's since the epi wore off. Only have 2 left and I'm not too happy about that LOL! Will try Tylenol ultra, and if it gets really bad I think you can get T1's over the counter.
Because of the 'traumatic' delivery (what they keep calling it :p) she was put on the billy blanket until last night. She had quite a large hemotoben and lots of swelling and fluid pockets on her head. They were worried because of how much she would have to process through her, but her levels stayed low and the doctor said today she looked great and is almost healed up.
Saw the Dr today and everything looks really good. They told me at the hospital that I would need to feed her every 3-4 hours because of the jaundice, and that's normally when she would wake to eat so that was okay. Last night neither one of us woke up and she slept almost 7 hours before I got her up to eat. So Robb asked the Dr today how often she needs to eat and she said because she is a big baby she doesn't need to be woken up and just to let her sleep, not to worry about it. So hopefully she sleeps good tonight too, I probably could have gotten another hour out of her today LOL.
